Ireland 1882 Royal Marines Ireland After the murder of Lord Cavendish and Mr. Thomas Burke in Phoenix Park, Dublin in 1882, a picked detachment of 300 Royal Marines were sent to Dublin to asist the City's police. They operated in plain clothes.

Inscription: Dedicated to those who gave their lives while serving with the 8th Battalion, Royal Marines, in Ireland 1919-1922.
